Approved courses are determined on a case-by-case basis by an ISF faculty advisor according to the customized research program of the ISF student.
UCEAP Programs Questionnaire
Upon pre-approval from an ISF faculty advisor, we accept up to 3 upper-division courses (assuming max of 4 units each) towards the major's upper-division requirements. If the student is going during their sophomore year, they could also finish their "Disciplines" and "World Regions" prerequisite courses abroad.

If students plan to use courses taken abroad to fulfill ISF major requirements, they need to provide a course description or preferably, a course syllabus to their ISF faculty advisor. Approval or denial should be immediate.

The Undergraduate Adviser can sign the form, unless the student is intending to use their UCEAP courses for their particular ISF Course of Study. In that case, the ISF Faculty Advisor must sign.
Yes, holds are placed on all ISF majors. Students who are abroad need to email their ISF faculty advisor with a list of the classes they plan to take and have faculty approval for their classes emailed to the undergraduate adviser who will release the hold.
Students must finish ISF 190, the senior thesis class in residence at UC Berkeley.
