Gilman Scholarship Application Deadline
Date/Time and Location
Description
The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. To be eligible for Gilman funding, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or international internship program.
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship seeks to broaden the student population that studies and interns abroad by supporting undergraduates who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints. By supporting undergraduate students who have high financial need, the program has been successful in supporting students who have been historically underrepresented in education abroad, including (but not limited to) first-generation college students, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, veterans, student parents, transfer students, re-entry students, and more.
The Gilman Scholarship application deadline is Thursday, March 6 at 11:59pm Pacific Time. The advisor certification deadline is Thursday, March 13 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.
The current Gilman application cycle is for summer 2025, fall 2025, academic year 2025-2026 and spring 2026 in-person credit-bearing study abroad or intern abroad programs.
If an applicant is not selected for the March 2025 deadline, they may re-apply for the next cycle in October 2025 as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
