Gilman Scholarship Application Deadline

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad. To be eligible for the Gilman Program, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship. The Gilman Program broadens the student population that studies and interns abroad by supporting undergraduates who might not otherwise participate due to financial constraints.

By supporting undergraduate students who have high financial need, the program has been successful in supporting students who have been historically underrepresented in education abroad, including (but not limited to) first-generation college students, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, veterans, student parents, transfer students, re-entry students, and more. The Gilman Scholarship application deadline is Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:59pm Pacific Time. The advisor certification deadline is Thursday, October 18, 2024 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.

This Gilman application cycle is for Spring 2025, Summer 2025, Fall 2025, and academic year 2025-2026 in-person credit-bearing study abroad or intern abroad programs. All applicants will be notified of their status via email in December 2024. If an applicant is not selected for the October 2024 deadline, they may re-apply for the next cycle in March 2025 as long as they continue to meet the eligibility requirements.
