Yes. Students should check with their ESS Adviser to confirm which courses can satisfy requirements.
UCEAP Programs Questionnaire
There is technically no college-wide maximum. Each program is individually discussed with the student's ESS Adviser. The large majority of courses for the major will have to be evaluated by home departments before course credit can be given. For humanities/social science courses, please follow the procedures listed here (under Evaluation of breadth courses).
ESS Advisers maintain an articulation database that catalogs previously approved and unapproved courses. Students may meet with their ESS Adviser to check if their proposed courses have been reviewed previously.

Courses for the major must be evaluated by faculty in the course department before course credit can be given. Students should talk with their ESS Adviser about major course evaluation, as some departments have pre-approved databases, and each department has its own process and timeline.
Please consult with an ESS Adviser.
Yes, if the courses are being used to satisfy upper division major requirements they are calculated into the upper division technical GPA.
They would be counted towards graduation honors, but not towards Dean’s honors. Any courses taken through UCEAP that are used towards the student’s major requirements are part of the UC GPA. More information can be found here.
If students have questions about departmental honors specifically, they should contact the advisers who are in charge of their departmental honors programs.

The ESS Adviser approves the academic planning form. There is no faculty adviser signature required.
Students should be in touch with their ESS Advisor prior to the beginning of the registration period to ensure there is no hold on their registration. Online appointments are available for all students on the ESS advising website.
Students who go abroad in their last semester might delay their graduation. We will apply modified senior residency rules for students in UCEAP.
