Students participating in this program will be in two areas of Thailand depending on their internship placement: Rangsit and Rayong. Rangsit is approximately 26 miles north of Bangkok, and is located in the Pathum Thani Province of Thailand. Pathum Thani is a part of the larger Bangkok metropolitan area and is home to the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) at Thammasat University where students will be learning about Thai history and culture.
Rayong Province is located on the shore of the Gulf of Thailand. It boasts of lush forests, mountains, flat plains and pristine beaches. Because of its proximity to the Gulf, fishing is a huge industry in Rayong, although the auto and chemical industries also have a strong presence there. Students interning at PTTGC will be spending their weekdays here.
Students will be hosted by the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT) at Thammasat University. Founded in 1934, Thammasat University was originally dedicated to the teaching of humanities and social sciences. The University has produced a large number of graduates who have greatly contributed to the development and progress of the country. Realizing the significant impact of science and technology on the country's economic growth, in the 1980's and 1990's Thammasat University initiated degree programs in engineering, technologies, physical sciences, and medical sciences at its Rangsit Campus, Pathum Thani. In 1997, the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology was inaugurated.
