BERKELEY’S NEW GLOBAL INITIATIVE!!!!

IARU GLOBAL SUMMER PROGRAM

As a Berkeley student, you are eligible to participate in the Global Summer Program, a new and exciting initiative of the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU), involving 10 leading international research universities---Oxford, Cambridge, Yale, UC Berkeley, Tokyo University, Australian National University, National University of Singapore, University of Copenhagen, Peking University, and ETH Zurich.

The IARU Global Summer Program provides intensive, residential summer courses at different host universities that have been uniquely designed for students from the ten IARU member institutions. Through the Global Summer Program, you will have an invaluable opportunity to live and learn with classmates from the 10 leading educational institutions in another cultural environment, to be exposed to new pedagogies and perspectives, and, above all, to be a member of a new community of global citizens and future global leaders. Students will emerge from the summer experience with deeper understanding of critical issues facing a globalizing world, more developed skill sets and commitment to be actively engaged participants of the 21st century.

Scholarship and financial aid may be available, depending on the university. For information about obtaining transfer credit, please visit http://studyabroad.berkeley.edu/Programs/noneap.htm.

Interested Berkeley students must submit an electronic AND hard copy of their application to the office of the Berkeley Programs for Study Abroad, in 160 Stephens. For the electronic submission, be sure to indicate "GSP application" in the subject heading. All materials must be received in our office by 4pm, March 25, 2008. The Berkeley nominations are then forwarded to the host institutions for final selection.

Additional information about GSP including the application process, host universities, and course offerings for Summer 2008 can be found at www.iaruni.org.
