Using the Self-Assessment Worksheet as a Tool

The EAP Self-Assessment is a worksheet designed to help you:

  1. Organize your research about the EAP program you are interested in.
  2. Determine whether the program meets your needs.
  3. Determine whether you meet the program’s requirements and are eligible to apply.

You must complete the Self-Assessment before you begin your application.

After you have completed the Self-Assessment and have determined that you meet the program’s requirements, you can begin the application.  You are not required to meet with an adviser or submit the Self-Assessment before beginning the application.

“What if I don’t meet the program requirements and I still want to apply?”

If, after completing the Self-Assessment, you find that you do not meet all of the program requirements, you must consult the EAP program adviser in order to apply.

You must also obtain permission from the EAP program adviser to apply if any of the following apply to you:

  1. You will not be enrolled at Cal the semester prior to departure.
  2. You have special needs related to your physical or mental health.
  3. You have dependents (e.g. a spouse or children) that you want to bring on the program.
  4. You want to apply to another EAP program during the same term (i.e. the same time period).
  5. You want to apply for back-to-back EAP programs (e.g. Brazil Fall 2009 followed by China Spring 2010).

To obtain permission from the EAP program adviser to apply, bring your completed Self-Assessment along with a copy of your unofficial transcript (printed from BearFacts) to the adviser’s drop-in advising hours, or email the adviser to set up an appointment.
