Applying as a Graduate Student

Graduate students may apply to study or pursue research at most EAP-affiliated host institutions, and may participate in the short-term language programs. At many locations graduate students may arrange to study for less than a full year. Graduates must meet EAP minimum requirements, have completed at least one year of graduate work, and have the support of their academic department and graduate dean. If the student will have completed less than three quarters or two semesters of academic work in residence on a UC campus by the time of EAP participation, student must petition for a waiver of the residence rule for graduate students. A detailed statement of the projected program of study is required.

Please be aware that there is Pre-Application procedure for graduate students. In addition, graduate students must submit a Graduate Study Agreement along with all other materials listed on the application checklist.

All information for graduate student applicants is available on the University-wide website of EAP. After you have completed the Pre-Application procedures and Graduate Study Agreement, you are ready to apply.
